About

Hi, Thanks for taking a look at my blog.
My name is Steve and my radio callsign is M0SKM.

At a very early age I took an interest in electronics when my father left a copy of practical wireless lying around, he used to dabble with old monochrome TV’s for a hobby. Dad had no formal training and browsed various magazines, he also found that electricity can bite you, I learned some new words when he got an electric shock.

My first project was building a battery powered 40metre CW transmitter, it looked easy to build even though I had no idea what I was going to do with. It wasn’t legal for me to use it but it worked and I put it to one side and moved on.

Some years later quite by accident I became a television engineer working for a small business, we repaired TV, radio and radiograms, I initially had no formal training; I had learned enough as a hobbiest to pass the entry exam. Much later I worked for a large international company which delivered technical solutions to the leisure industry.

So thats the path which eventually stimulated an interest in amateur radio; my specific interests now are home construction and application of amateur TV equipment and satellite communications.

Now retired I have time to do electronics for me.
