This week I received my certificate for WAS (Worked All States), the award is Issued by the ARRL to radio amateurs who have confirmed contacts with radio amateurs in all 50 US states. My award is in the satellite category; all contacts were made via satellites constructed by amateur radio operators or educational establishments.
There are limited satellites which have a footprint covering my location in the UK and all of North America, RS-44 (Russian) and IO-117 (Italian Space Agency) were the primary choice for me. Other satellites give the coverage but can be harder to use, my location has a number of building obstructions and trees which at times block my path to the satellites.
